Mr. JUSTIN WHEATCROFT

Having operated restaurants in Hanoi from 1995, my career took a turn in 1998 when I founded Indochine House with my brother in law. Along with antiques, we designed, sourced and retailed accessories and furnishings. In 2004 I moved down to Ho Chi Minh City to get directly involved in production, first with Tori, then founding Square Roots in 2008. My most recent venture - boka – is a boutique factory designing and making for the Asian market using solid French oak. We aim to bridge the gap between the artisan who can get the pulses racing with a one off and the industrialist who offers efficiency and repeatability.

Whilst I am not a designer, design and craft have always been central to my businesses. Avoiding trend based products and designing based upon materials and processes guide my approach.
